Plastics thermoforming is described by many industry terminologies: vacuum forming, pressure forming, and custom thermoforming; however, the basic plastic forming process remains the same: heat, vacuum, and pressure.

Flexpak Corporation uses computer controlled, high speed, in-line custom thermoforming machinery inside a humidity and temperature controlled manufacturing environment that ensures consistent repeatability to produce high quality packaging products.

Flexpak’s eight thermoformers are purchased from the same equipment manufacturer to improve efficiencies while reducing costs through standardized tooling, reduced spare part inventory, improved technical staff familiarity and skill set. Standardized tooling also facilitates quick tooling changeover that meets the ever increasing demand for shorter, more productive and profitable runs.

While our equipment is standardized, every part has a unique “recipe” of heat, mechanical press control settings, and vacuum and pressure settings. These “recipes” are closely guarded and documented in individual process control binders that also include a bill of materials, QA drawings/instructions and pack-out instructions. The information contained in these binders are controlled documents as part of Flexpak’s ISO 9001:2008 certified quality system.
